Listen to Emer Maguire’s debut single ‘Belfast’ HERE

I’m a keen musician and singer songwriter. Music has been a lifelong passion of mine. I started playing piano at seven, guitar at twelve, and writing songs at around thirteen or fourteen.

My music is a blend of soulful indie folk tinged with mainstream pop. My live performances range from acoustic shows to shows with a full backing band, and gigs where I use an extensive solo set up using guitar, synths, loop pedals and samplers to create a full band sound on my own.

In 2016, I decided to start sharing my music with the world as a solo artist. Late that year I released my debut single ‘Belfast’. Immediately upon its release, it was named track for the day on BBC Radio Ulster’s Across the Line. The track enjoyed airtime on shows all over Ireland. RTE2FM named it as one of their highlights of the month in January 2017, and the track received features on well known stations such Q Radio. Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody put ‘Belfast’ as number one on his St. Patricks day playlist of best Irish music.
I also performed ‘Belfast’ live on shows such as several BBC Radio Ulster shows (The Arts Show with Marie-Louise Muir, The Gerry Kelly show, Across the Line) and on stations such as Drive 105, Belfast 89FM and Dublin’s Phoenix FM.

Before the release of ‘Belfast’, I had been commissioned to write and perform a theme song for an American documentary, which had its world wide debut in New York in November 2015. In the run up to this, I had been spending time in London recording some of my music. In June 2016, I was announced as one of five acts chosen by the Oh Yeah Music Centre in Belfast to receive ten months of specialist support and mentoring on their talent development program.

2016 saw me give stand out performances in exciting venues across the UK and Ireland, from the famous Belfast Empire Music Hall to Manchester’s Bluedot festival. With 2017 came a flurry of wonderful gigs, including; my first headline show with a full backing band in July; playing at the wonderful Stendhal music festival in August; performing at the summer Belfast Feile Festival; travelling to perform on my first Scottish tour; and playing at Midsummer Sessions on the North Coast as part of the Irish Open (as well as a host of other gigs I don’t have room to mention!)
